The Challenge
The company had just closed a £12M Series B round and had new investor reporting requirements. Their three-person finance function was overwhelmed — a Finance Manager and two junior staff producing monthly accounts that regularly took until day 15 of the following month. Investors wanted them by day 5. The CEO was spending 8+ hours per month reviewing and correcting the accounts.
The Solution
Taxperts took over the end-to-end monthly close process. Working in the company's existing Xero environment, we standardised the chart of accounts, implemented a monthly close checklist, and took on all reconciliation and management accounts preparation. We also produced a standardised investor reporting pack (P&L by department, headcount analysis, ARR bridge, cash runway) that was previously being built manually in Excel each month.
The Results
Within two months, the monthly close was completed by day 3. The Finance Manager was freed from transactional work entirely and refocused on FP&A, pricing analysis, and investor relations. When the company moved to Series C preparation, the clean, consistent financial records significantly accelerated the due diligence process.
